Oscar Patterson

Oscar Patterson Academy is celebrating an extraordinary academic achievement after improving from an “F” school to a “B” school in just one year, marking one of the most significant successes in Bay District Schools’ latest accountability results released by the Florida Department of Education.

This remarkable turnaround is part of a larger district-wide story of progress, as Bay District Schools earned 62 total points for the 2024–2025 school year—just two points shy of an “A” district rating, the closest the district has ever been to fully “putting the A back in Bay.” Even more notably, this is the first time in 17 years that no school in the district earned a D or F rating.

Superintendent Mark McQueen praised the collective effort behind these gains, noting that the results reflect the focused, daily work happening in classrooms across the district. At Oscar Patterson Academy, the improvement from an F to a B stands as a powerful example of what can be accomplished through strong leadership, dedicated teachers, supportive families, and students committed to growth.

Across Bay District Schools, six schools improved by at least one letter grade, with 14 schools earning an A, 11 earning a B, and 15 earning a C. Oscar Patterson Academy’s success highlights the momentum building across the district and reinforces the belief that sustained effort and high expectations lead to real results.

The Oscar Patterson community has much to be proud of—this one-year transformation is proof that hard work pays off and that excellence is within reach.
